Introduction to pottery & seasonal food day retreats.
Come and spend a beautiful day with me, mindfully making and eating delicious food.
This is the perfect day if you’ve always had an interest in pottery and would like a day intensive to learn amazing skills and enjoying delicious homemade food while doing so. Or just if you would like a way to mindfully spend a day with friends or meeting new like minded people.
All materials, food, drink and firing and glazing of your finished pieces are included. I want to take care of everything for you so you can spend a day just turning up, totally relaxing and having fun!
I have been trained in pottery for nearly 20 years now and I am so passionate about sharing my skills with others, I also love to cook and sharing delicious food with others. I mean pottery and food, it’s a match made in heaven.
Below I have outlined a rough itinerary for the day so you know what to expect:
9am: Arrival drink, freshly brewed coffee, tea or orange juice and a change to get to know your fellow porters for the day.
9.30am: Come hungry as we will set ourselves up for a day of making by enjoying a delicious breakfast together. Think seasonal fresh fruit, homemade cinnamon buns fresh from the oven, yoghurt with crunchy granola and topped with local honey. Coffee and tea is unlimited for the day so enjoy to your hearts content.
All food and drinks served throughout the day will be done so on pottery handmade by me, I really just want to immerse you in my love for all things handmade, and I take such a great joy from drinking from pottery that is mindfully made.
10.30am:
The pottery begins!
Now we are full of delicious food we will get into the studio and make. I will demonstrate methods of hand building pottery, coils slabs and pinch pots and also a wide variety of ways that you can decorate your finished items. I love hand building as the slow and methodical way of making really helps you to connect with the clay and is such a therapeutic process.
For the next couple of hours you can try out all the different methods of making so you can get a feel for which one you prefer and would like to use for your finished item later on. Workshop numbers are kept small so each person can get as much one on one help as they need.
1pm: after we have worked up more of an appetite we will get washed up and break for lunch. Think homemade seasonal quiche, delicious salads, freshly baked bread, meats and cheeses and finished off with a slab of something chocolatey or a slice of cake with lashings of cream and jam.
2pm.
Now to make your final items. Mugs, vases, ceramic beads and jewellery, bowl, or decorative wall art, the options really are endless and I will be there every step of the way to make sure you end the day feeling proud of the pieces you created.
4.30/5pm: we will finish for the day, I hope you will leave with a passion to learn more, or just with wonderful memories of a day spent switching off with like minded people. Oh and you will leave with recipe booklet with some of the delicious bakes we ate so you can recreate them at home and take a mindful moment of joy just for you.
Any questions at all just ask and if you have any dietary requirements let me know as soon as possible.
I’m so excited to spend the day with you.
